Jo Timmermans, the founder of Timmermans transport & logistics, was born in Diessen on 25 August 1912. The oldest son in a family of 5 children.

The first steps to an entrepreneurial future were taken. As a 12 year old boy, Jo Timmermans who just left primary school, went with his father to buy straw for reselling on the local market.

1932

Not even 20 years old, Jo Timmermans registered its company at the chamber of commerce and started the company J.A.C. Timmermans. Core business at the time was wholesale straw trading.

Start trading in fertilizer. In the first year Jo Timmermans traded 2200 ton, equivalent to 8 ships of 270 ton. Also the trade in calcic for agricultural purposes was one of his expertise, trading up to 40 till 50 train wagons per week.

Expanding to trade on the trademarket in Rotterdam, where trading straw and also corn on a much bigger scale

Mr. Timmermans bought his first second-hand truck what has offered him better trading opportunities.

Timmermans was the biggest straw supplier of the Netherlands.

Jo Timmermans built his first warehouse for storage where the fleet had already grown to seven trucks which were transporting straw from Belgium and France.

Change in policy, as the market of straw changed and the need for transport and storage evolved, Jo Timmermans changed the core business from trading to logistics.

Changing to logistics was successful, in 10 years Timmermans had grown to 20.000 sq.m storage space, 15 trucks and 24 employees.

Transferring the company to its son, Jan Timmermans.
